Duties

Moraine Valley Community College was awarded a five-year federal Title III grant focusing on increasing access to career pathways; particularly in the health professions. The College seeks to hire a part-time Academic Advisor to serve as a member of the Title III intervention team. The Academic Advisor’s primary role will be to provide academic advising, but will also assist with supporting interventions that help to support and retain the students. When not directly supporting Title III student and efforts, the Academic Advisor will provide additional advising and new student orientation services to the campus. Please note that this position will primarily work from the Education Center at Blue Island with additional hours on the main campus in Palos Hills.

Education/Experience

Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to this position (including, but not limited to Education, Nursing, and other related fields).
Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience providing academic advising to students, preferably at the community college level.
Familiarity with student success interventions and retention strategies at the postsecondary level.
Preference for candidate with knowledge of the health careers and Nursing.
Preference for candidate with bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
