Under the direction of the Dean, Learning Resource Center in charge of circulation, periodicals, acquisitions, cataloging, and collection management, the Library Assistant I performs various routine tasks in the designated library area serving staff, students, alumni, and community borrowers. The Library Assistant I is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and minimum of six months related experience and/or training in service setting environment.


The Library Assistant I may process catalogued items for circulation, maintain records of holdings and process items for the reserve collection, consisting of data entry, deletions and revisions; inspect materials then make minor repairs on damaged LRC materials; Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook experience is necessary; purchase, count, verify, balance and maintain cash on hand; enter, update and maintain database information; assist patrons by answering questions or directing them to the proper technician, librarian, room, or department; work collaboratively with students, supervisor, librarians, staff, as well as community members; must have excellent communication skills and a tactful, calm and polite demeanor with patrons and employees; must be able to work independently, be good at critical thinking and problem solving; must be willing to work cooperatively with a diverse population; plus other duties as assigned.

Position Status Part Time Temporary

Must be available Sunday 11:30-4:30 during the Spring and Fall semesters.

Hours will vary.

This is an “On-Call” position with no other regular hours than Sunday during the school year (August-May). Can be requested to work between the following hours as needed:

Monday – Thursday 6:45AM-10:30PM
Friday 6:45AM-5:30PM
Saturday 7:30 AM-4:30PM
Sunday 11:30-4:30PM

Minimum Starting Rate $11.75
Hourly/Salary Hourly
